2nd Interview

We had our second home study interview tonight with the social worker. It went very well. I went first and paved the way for Joe. Like we thought we were especially asked about our spanking response...since it is a sensitive topic. I explained in detail how we do it, why we do it, the books we have read on it...He liked our approach and said that as a social worker he just has to make sure it is done correctly. He also said that in his interviewing he has found that the majority of christian families do spank. He has also found that spanking is usually done in steps, as I had explained, which he really agrees with because then it is not parents threatening and yelling at the kids all day verses handling it and following through with a consequence. We also shared with him that we were both raised in families that spanked and have been on the other end of it. And we don't feel we have been traumatized or are now violent people because of it.
The social worker was also very impressed with our family. He couldn't believe we had a good relationship with all our parents and siblings. He said we were making his job too easy.
It went well and we do have 2 more meetings with him. We will see him again next week. I wish sooner but he only comes out to Orange County 1 time a week...he lives in Temecula.
